Displacement

A bomb's smoke after it was dropped on Gaza.

Every day, Sahar uploaded videos about the forced displacement that she and her people were suffering, despite how the views and engagement dwindled with time. She kept making them anyway, if just for proof of how inaction doomed her people; how violent being peaceful could be.

Glimmer

A gold locket laying within brown mulch.

Dale saw a glimmer amongst the mess. He carefully stepped over flipped furniture and discarded papers until he found it – a pendant. It was aged and dull; it shouldn’t have caught the light. A whisper came from within. He couldn’t resist.

Sweet

Three kids sitting on a couch, 2 young boys and a baby between them.

Resentment brewed in the two older brothers of Lily, the only daughter. The boys loved her, truly, but the way Lily was doted upon was always to their detriment. They tried to keep her hidden from their suffering, but they couldn’t tolerate the way the world bended for her sweet smile.
