Glimmer
Dale saw a glimmer amongst the mess. He carefully stepped over flipped furniture and discarded papers until he found it – a pendant. It was aged and dull; it shouldn’t have caught the light. A whisper came from within. He couldn’t resist.
Sweet
Resentment brewed in the two older brothers of Lily, the only daughter. The boys loved her, truly, but the way Lily was doted upon was always to their detriment. They tried to keep her hidden from their suffering, but they couldn’t tolerate the way the world bended for her sweet smile.
Pitch
The high-pitch scream cut through the night. Nick found everyone at the bonfire was still there – except for Elle. He took a step into the woods, ignoring the pleas of the others. Once out of eyeshot of the fire, he looked up and his eyes grew wide. It definitely hadn’t been Elle.
